Job: Unix Administrator

Title Unix Administrator
Start Date 2015-01-02
Location Orlando, FL
Job Information

We have an aggressive 2015 capital plan for software development projects.

• Member of a small team of System Administrators. They would be the second Solaris Administrator.
• Primary objective is to free up Andy Murphy from his involvement in day-to-day Solaris administration.
• Day-to-day support of existing Solaris infrastructure.
• Work with Development teams to implement / configure Solaris servers for DEV, QA, and PROD environments.

• Required – 5+ years’ experience with Solaris with specific experience with version 10. They must be currently working with Solaris 10.
• If they have 5 years of Solar experience but is not recent, they should have been working with Solaris within the last year
• Required – experience with Solaris 10 and LDOMs. LDOMs are the method that Solaris uses for virtualization. Solaris also has what are called containers as another method of virtualization however we don’t use much of that method. LDOMs are the primary method.
• Required – experience with Solaris 10 connected to 3rd party Storage Array Networks (SAN). Experience with EMC would be a plus but not required.
• Required – experience with Solaris and enterprise backup solutions. We specifically use Symantec NetBackup so it would be a plus if they have that experience.
• Required – experience working in a structured enterprise environment. They would have experienced formal Change Management and other controls such as regular patching and vulnerability management.
• Desired – experience administering Linux systems.

System patching work is often done after hours and that is permitted to be performed from home. Otherwise, the candidate will be expected to work in the office Mon-Fri.
